Shawn began his career as an audio engineer, mixing sound for over 200 national and international recording artists, 25 professional theatre productions, and corporate clients such as the Brickyard 400 (Indianapolis), Hyatt Regency, and Daimler-Chrysler. In 2004, he left the world of audio to pursue his career in consulting. Shawn uses his theatre production background to build an engaging and immersive experience for his speaking audiences.
He founded Saxus Leadership Development in 2012 as a way to help others find happiness and fulfillment in their lives , starting with the work they do. From banking to healthcare, Shawn has consulted with clients across the board in myriad industries. He has over 15 years combined experience in leadership, community development, public relations, speaking, and coaching and has been the keynote speaker at chamber events, corporate training seminars, churches, and large public discourse meetings.
His practices are rooted in Emotional Intelligence (EQ), Positive Psychology, and Leadership Psychology. Through active listening and empathy, he has the ability to quickly assess a situation, identify behavior patterns and barriers, develop a strategy, and affect change. In addition to speaking, Shawn is a consultant and coach for businesses, organizations, and individuals seeking positive, lasting change.
Shawn is passionate about positively influencing the lives of young people and he spends his free time as a volunteer speaking to students in the JAG Program (Jobs for America’s Graduates), mentoring students participating in the Young Entrepreneurs’ Academy (YEA), and speaking to groups about the importance of emotional intelligence in the development of our future leaders. He also enjoys writing music, watching live theatre, and spending quality time with his family and friends.
